Privacy policy
Effective July 26, 2026. This independent extension processes selected Blackboard content locally to present a clearer coursework interface.
Data the extension handles
The extension reads content available to the signed-in user through Blackboard pages and same-origin APIs, including courses, announcements, deadlines, grades, assignment instructions, attachments, native form fields, and submission status. Depending on the page, this may include a user's name, identifier, or course membership.
Processing happens locally in the browser. Blackboard content is not sent to the developer or to a developer-operated server.
For a supported assignment, files and comments selected by the user remain in the current page's memory and are sent directly to bb.cuhk.edu.cn only after explicit confirmation. The extension does not retain a copy in extension storage.
The extension does not read, store, or transmit Blackboard passwords or authentication cookies. Login, logout, and expired-session pages remain native.
Local storage
Chrome extension storage contains only interface preferences such as enabled state, portal replacement, theme, accent, and compact mode. Chrome may sync these non-Blackboard preferences when Chrome Sync is enabled. A short-lived navigation flag may remain in the current Blackboard tab's session storage.
The extension does not store courses, announcements, grades, assignment files, comments, submission records, cookies, or passwords in extension storage.
Network communication
The extension has no analytics, advertising, telemetry, or developer data service. Blackboard requests travel directly between the user's browser and bb.cuhk.edu.cn through the existing authenticated session. A confirmed assignment submission is posted directly to the native Blackboard form and checked against Blackboard before completion is reported.
Limited use of user data
The extension uses Blackboard data only to provide or improve its disclosed single purpose: presenting the current user's Blackboard coursework in a clearer, task-focused interface. The use of information received through Chrome and Blackboard complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
User data is not sold or transferred for unrelated purposes, is not used for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, or lending, and is not read by humans unless the user deliberately provides a redacted support sample, access is necessary for security, or disclosure is required by law.
Permissions
storagesaves only UI preferences.- Host access is limited to
https://bb.cuhk.edu.cn/*. - The content script renders supported Blackboard portal routes while login, expired-session, native tool, and unknown pages remain original.
- The only web-accessible resource is the bundled Inter font.
Retention and deletion
Page-memory data is discarded when the Blackboard page is reloaded or closed, and the navigation flag expires with the tab session. Users can reset extension settings, clear Chrome extension data, or uninstall the extension. Blackboard may retain submitted work according to the university's policies.
Security
All executable code is packaged with the extension; no remote scripts are loaded. Unsupported submission forms fall back to Original Blackboard, confirmation is required, and success is reported only after Blackboard verification.
Changes and contact
This page will be updated if data practices change. For questions, use the support page or the contact shown on the Chrome Web Store listing.
